We have a full time position available and are excited for someone new to
join us. We have a full year ahead with the busy Broadway summer and then
the move to our new location later in the year. Below is some more
information detailing the position.

- 30-40 hrs/week beginning as soon as possible
- salary option available
- retail experience a plus
- photography, social media, writing and all art forms are an asset
- looking for a self motivated person who likes to help people and work for
The Better Good.

Cathy Terepocki Ceramics

You may have heard that Cathy Terepocki, the loved and admired local
potter, has recently moved away from Saskatoon. We were sad to see her
go and we know her presence is already missed in the city. Given this
change, The Better Good is thrilled to be able to continue to carry
her work and we’re happy to say that an order has recently arrived.
So, if you’re working on your mug collection or still looking for that
special piece, have no fear! There are plenty new mugs, cups,
earrings, necklaces, hairpins and bracelets. Thanks for making this
possible with your continued interest in local handmade art.

Peace Out Landlord!

The Better Good is thrilled to announce that we are moving to a new
location just down the street at 714 Broadway Avenue, where Willeys
Jewellers has been since 1949. We are very grateful to Greg and Judy
Willey for selling their building to another locally owned family
business!

We will continue to offer the wide range of local, organic,
handmade, recycled and fair trade goods you have come to love over the
past 4 years along with some new exciting additions. We anticipate
opening in the new space by the end of 2013. In the mean time… thank
you so much for continuing to support and visit us at our current
location.

“The story I would like to tell is how “The Better Good” helps CNYC to help the youth we serve. To help them live, eat, keep warm, feed their families and just survive.

The youth we serve are more than labels they are like the rest of us, they want what we want, they want love and want to be respected and want live without fear of losing their homes, their families and themselves.

CNYC with the help of The Better Good helps us give these youth a chance by helping build the skills these youth already have in them. They are amazing once you open your heart, eyes and ears.”

We would like to sincerely thank you for including G4G Saskatoon among the organizations you support through the operation of your unique, creatively arranged and well-run store and for your very generous donation.

As you probably know all donations and proceeds from our fund raising efforts are sent to the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting hundreds of grassroots projects in Sub Saharan African countries. These projects are designed to provide assistance with the education, housing, nourishment and health care of millions of AIDS orphans being cared for by their courageous and resourceful grandmothers.

In addition to encouraging donations and fund-raising, our group raises awareness through speaking engagements in schools and community organizations and includes an educational component at each of our monthly meetings to foster our own understanding of issues in Africa. Membership is open to anyone who wants to make a difference for African grandmothers and their families.

Respecting Water and People

On Dec 14 2012 Canada went from being a country with 2.5 million protected lakes and rivers to a country with 159 protected lakes and rivers.

Here at The Better Good, we not only believe that clean water is a basic human right, we recognize that it is essential to sustaining all life on planet earth.

We also believe in living in such a way that fosters and supports peace in the world, while recognizing that we live in diverse communities and respecting the many heritages that bring us together.

Today on Jan 11^th, we write this post to express our solidarity with the First Nations people of Canada who are working together for rights to clean water, health and dignity for all.

This image illustrates the path borrowed by the designer recovering punctured inner tubes, and transforming them into new bags and accessories.

The originality of the products comes from their creator’s idea to combine the durability and waterproof qualities of the inner tube, with the urban look of leather. The items designed by Anne Painchaud-Ouellet are varied, in order to satisfy both the needs of coquetry and of convenience.
