Old Fashioned Toys for the Modern Multicultural World

Russian-language-500

Today at The Better Good a big box of children's alphabet blocks arrived. It was exciting to unpack it, as another language from around the world appeared on every set. It is important to us to honour and recognize how multicultural our city and our world is, in whatever ways we can. Even with children being born into all kinds of families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, English is still the most common language for young eyes to see when out and about here in Saskatoon. These traditional children's wooden blocks are available in a wide range of languages and we now carry Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Italian, Russian, and Spanish, with the capacity to order more in the future. We would like to give local kids the opportunity to have access to toys with letters in their own language or the language of their grandparents and ancestors.

These award winning Alphabet Blocks have been made from sustainable Michigan basswood since 1983. Linden Wood says the "classic toys aid in the development of fine motor skills, spatial recognition, math, and language skills in kindergarten and preschool aged children."

We at the Better Good are always happy to see families and children in the store. You are more than welcome to come in and dump out our community toys to play with and check out our wide selection of eco-friendly socially responsible toys and products for families.

Thanks for supporting your local business! We look forward to seeing you soon.
